The newest facility on the Loras College campus is the state of the art Athletics & Wellness Center, located along Cox Street in the middle of campus. More commonly known as the AWC, this multi-level center covers 8,000+ square feet with a complete workout center and weight room for students, faculty/staff and members. The stadium holds over 1,700 spectators for a variety of events. The Loras College volleyball and basketball teams host competitions and practices on the main floor during the fall and winter seasons. The weight room is also commonly used for strength and conditioning purposes for both student-athletes and the greater Loras community.
The facility also contains a concessions area and houses the offices of all coaches who compete in the building, the Associate and Director of Athletics, the Strength and Conditioning coach and the Athletic Training staff. The Loras College Varsity Athletics Hall of Fame area is located along the east wall of the upper concourse.
Constructed in 1982, the Graber Sports Center is a multi-functional facility that is one of the most frequently used buildings on campus. A competition and practice site for the Loras College varsity wrestling team, Graber also houses soccer, softball, baseball, wrestling and track and field offices as well as offices and classrooms for Physical Education and Sports Studies faculty. In the basement, there are three racquetball courts open to the public.
Over 600 participants compete in one or more of the 50-plus intramural activities at Loras, and Graber is destination spot for many of these activities. The program is run by a combination of staff and students and is regarded as one of the most successful in the country.
