Jeremy Thornburg is the first men's volleyball head coach in school history and begins his second year in 2016.
During the summer of 2015, Thornburg was the head coach for the Iowa Region Boys Youth National Team at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships. Thornburg also served as the assistant coach for the Loras women's volleyball team in the fall of 2015, helping lead the Duhawks to a 22-13 overall record and second place finish in the Iowa Conference, including an appearance in the tournament championship match.
Most recently, Thornburg was the assistant coach at Eckerd College under head coach Michelle Piantadosi. The Tritons finished second in the Sunshine State Conference with a 20-10 record and earned the No. 3 seed in the 2013 NCAA Division II Men's Volleyball Tournament.
Thornburg spent one season as assistant coach at Arkansas State University, working under head coach David Rehr for the 2012 season. While at Arkansas State, Thornburg worked directly with the backcourt defense and libero positions as well as team scouting. The Red Wolves finished the season with a 19-14 record and had two student-athletes named All-Sun Belt Conference selections.
Thornburg is a graduate of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) in Fort Wayne, Ind. As an undergraduate student and following his studies at IPFW, Thornburg served as a student assistant and team manager under American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame head coach Arnie Ball. In 2006 and 2007, the IPFW Mastodons reached the Final Four, finishing as national runners-up in 2007.
A native of Mishawaka, Indiana, Thornburg now resides in Dubuque.
